What are Muted Green Paint Colors?
Muted green paint colors are shades of green that have gray undertones to them. The gray helps to tone down the green-ness of the shade and generally makes it easier to decorate with.
Muted greens can vary from more of a true green to more of a gray with green undertones. They cross the whole spectrum!

It’s very important to swatch colors on your wall to be sure they look good – day and night – in your actual space before committing.
Behr Nature’s Gift
I painted the entire downstairs of my home Behr Nature’s Gift. This color looks gray sometimes, and sage green other times. It’s a beautiful chameleon, with just enough pigment to be interesting without feeling dark at all!
Sherwin Williams Rainwashed (SW 6211)
Rainwashed is a delicate muted green with gray undertones, evoking a sense of tranquility and serenity reminiscent of a misty morning, perfect for bedrooms or bathrooms.
This shade has a good amount of green, but can still feel gray in certain lighting. It’s a perfect balance.
Sherwin Williams Sea Salt (1564)
Sea Salt is a serene and soothing muted green with hints of gray and blue undertones, creating a fresh and coastal-inspired ambiance, ideal for living rooms or kitchens.
Sea Salt is a super popular paint color and is often marketed as a neutral because it is so very gray. The green undertones are really just enough to give it interest and help it feel fresh!
Benjamin Moore Silver Sage (506)
Silver Sage is a muted green with a silvery-gray undertone, capturing the essence of a misty forest, and adding a touch of elegance to spaces like bedrooms or home offices.
This shade is much warmer than most of the others and reads as a warm gray with green undertones. It’s a great option if you want a touch of green without a huge commitment.
Sherwin Williams Retreat (SW 6207)
Retreat is a muted green with gray undertones that conveys a sense of peacefulness and relaxation, making it an excellent choice for creating a calming atmosphere in bedrooms or reading nooks.
This is a darker option for a muted green, a bit more dramatic but it could also play as modern in the right room. I love this option for green impact without it being too bright or in your face.
Benjamin Moore Gray Wisp (1570)
Gray Wisp is a delicate and ethereal muted green with subtle gray undertones, adding a touch of tranquility and sophistication to any space, ideal for bathrooms or bedrooms.
Benjamin Moore Quiet Moments
Quiet Moments is a soft and serene muted green with hints of gray, reminiscent of a misty morning fog, creating a soothing and gentle atmosphere, perfect for bedrooms or nurseries.
This shade can definitely feel a bit grayer than green, especially in bright lighting!
Benjamin Moore Pale Smoke (1584)
Pale Smoke is a muted green-gray color that exudes a quiet elegance and sophistication, bringing a subtle and calming presence to any room, particularly in dining rooms or home libraries.
