Sherwin Williams Pacer White: Complete Color Review

Published: Oct 6, 2024 · Modified: Sep 1, 2024 by Meg · This post may contain affiliate links ·

Looking for the perfect warm white paint color for your home? Let me introduce you to Sherwin Williams Pacer White. This color might just be the perfect fit for your space.

Warm whites are such a great choice when you want a neutral color that doesn’t feel too stark.

Unlike cool whites, which can sometimes come off as a bit harsh, warm whites add a welcoming, comfortable feeling to any room.

I’ve always appreciated how versatile warm whites are. Whether your decor leans modern, traditional, or somewhere in between, a warm white will seamlessly blend.

Warm whites can lean so bright as to be almost white or so dark as to be almost taupe or greige.

So, I’ve chosen to do a review of Sherwin Williams Pacer White, a darker warm white that’s perfect for creating that cozy atmosphere you’ve been looking for.

Sherwin Williams Pacer White Paint Color Guide

Pacer White, Sherwin Williams, SW 6098

Pacer White is a warm white that I’ve found works beautifully in spaces like kitchens and bathrooms.

It’s a bit darker than a true white, which gives it a unique character, leaning almost into the taupe or greige family.

    Color Family

Pacer White is part of the white color family, but with a warmth that sets it apart from the cooler whites.

    Light Reflectance Value

    73

Light Reflective Value (LRV) shows how much light a color reflects. The scale goes from 0 to 100, with 0 being pure black and 100 being pure white.

With an LRV of 73, Pacer White sits comfortably in the off-white category.

It’s light enough to brighten up most spaces, but it has just enough depth to keep it from feeling too washed out. I’ve seen it perform well in both small and large rooms.

    RGB Colors

    R: 229 G: 221 B: 208

RGB values give you a clear picture of the color makeup — here, the mix of red, green, and blue comes together to create that warm, inviting tone that defines Pacer White.

    Undertones

Pacer White has subtle pink undertones that add a soft, warm touch to your space. Depending on the lighting, you might also notice hints of beige or gray peeking through.

In rooms with lots of natural light, especially those south-facing rooms, Pacer White can lean more towards an off-white, with its beige and pink undertones gently coming forward.

On the other hand, in north-facing rooms that don’t get as much sunlight, this color can shift towards a light gray or greige, giving the space a cooler feel.

Because lighting can change how a color looks, it’s always a good idea to swatch Pacer White on your walls before deciding. This way, you can see how the undertones play out in your own space.

Pacer White is a light and bright neutral that brings warmth to any room. Its slight color depth is great for hiding scuffs and marks better than a true white.

    • Kitchens
    • Bathrooms
    • Interior doors

    Trim Colors

For trim, you have a couple of great options with Pacer White.

Choose a bright white for a crisp, clean contrast, or use Pacer White itself in a semi-gloss finish to create a cohesive look throughout your space.

    Bright white trim colors:

    • Benjamin Moore Simply White
    • Sherwin Williams Extra White
    • Behr Ultra Pure White

If you want to use Pacer White for both walls and trim, just choose a different finish for tone on tone contrast.

So, choose Pacer White in eggshell finish for the walls and Pacer White in semi-gloss for the trim. This gives a nice, soft finished look.

    FAQS

Here are some common frequently asked questions about Pacer white.

    Does Pacer White look white?

Pacer White is an off-white, but it’s not a pure white. Its subtle pink undertones give it a soft warmth, making it appear as an off-white in most spaces.

Depending on the light, it can even lean towards a light gray or greige.

It’s a versatile color, but I recommend swatching it to see how it reads in your space.

What is the undertone of Pacer White?

Pacer White has a gentle pink undertone that adds warmth without being overwhelming. You might also notice hints of beige or gray, depending on your room’s lighting.

In brighter rooms, the pink may be more noticeable, while in darker spaces, the gray tones might come through.

Testing a swatch is always a good idea to see how the undertones work in your home.

What's the difference: SW Pacer White vs BM Sonnet?

Pacer White is slightly darker than Benjamin Moore’s Sonnet, with an LRV of 73 compared to Sonnet’s 70.

Both colors are neutrals with pink undertones, but Pacer White may lean a bit more towards pink.

If you’re choosing between the two, it’s smart to swatch both on your walls to see which one you prefer.

Is Pacer White warm or cool?

Pacer White is definitely a warm off-white paint color. Its warm undertones make it feel cozy and inviting, perfect for creating a welcoming atmosphere.

I’ve found it works well in spaces where you want to add warmth without going too dark.

But as always, try a swatch in your room to see how it feels.

What color trim goes with Pacer White?

You have a few great options for trim with Pacer White.

You can pair it with a bright white like Sherwin Williams Extra White or Benjamin Moore Simply White for a crisp, clean contrast.

Or, if you want a seamless look, use Pacer White in a semi-gloss finish for the trim. It’s a subtle difference, but it adds a nice touch.

Be sure to test it out in your space to see which look you love.

What's the difference: SW Pacer White vs Behr Designer White?

Pacer White is slightly darker than Behr Designer White, with an LRV of 73 compared to Designer White’s 74.

While Pacer White has subtle pink undertones, Designer White has slight orange undertones.

Both are beautiful neutral colors, but they can look quite different depending on your lighting.
