Choosing a paint color is tough! Even saying you just want something neutral doesn’t narrow it down!

Drift of Mist lands somewhere between greige and off white. It has a bit of color to it – just enough to feel cozy on your walls.

This color is also warm without feeling yellow at all. That’s because it’s undertones are more green. If you like to decorate with greens (green is VERY trendy at the moment) this could be a great neutral option for you!

Light Reflective Value is the measurement of how much light a color bounces around. This is on a scale of 0 to 100 with 0 being pure black and 100 being pure white.

At 69, this color has a good amount of depth to it and is what I would considered mid-toned.

Remember – in a very bright room, the color will be washed out a bit more compared to a darker room.

This is a warm, neutral toned light greige color.

But, beware – it can read a bit green in certain light. Often, when cool north-facing light mixes with this golden color, it can go green.

Best uses

Some people consider Drift of Mist an off-white paint color. Personally, I find it a bit dark for that. I think that it is more of a mid-toned greige.

Either way, this color is super neutral.

It can work great in a super bright room if you want an off white – it has enough depth to it that even when washed out, it will still have a bit of color.

It also works great in bedrooms, dining rooms, or living rooms with less bright light – just know it will look like a more medium toned greige and not so off-white.

Drift of Mist FAQs

Is drift of mist grey or beige?

Drift of Mist is a greige paint color but is usually classified as a warm gray and not a beige paint color. It’s going to look grayer in north facing light and warmer in southern light.

Does drift of mist go with agreeable gray?

Drift of Mist is quite a bit lighter and brighter compared to agreeable gray. But, I wouldn’t pair these colors together. The undertones clash a bit – I’d stick to something more different rather than trying to bring two greiges together.

Gossamer Veil vs Drift of Mist

Gossamer Veil has more depth to it – is slightly darker – and is slightly warmer than Drift of Mist. If you have a very bright room but want it to have a bit of color to it, Gossamer Veil is less likely to get washed out compared to Drift of Mist.

Drift of Mist also has a lot of purple to it. If your room is north facing or has cool light, it could look purple on the walls.
