Edgecomb gray vs Agreeable gray
What is similar about Edgecomb gray vs Agreeable gray?
At a glance it is clear that these two paint colors are both very neutral, beige leaning grays.
With LRVs of 63 and 60, they have very similar color depth or darkness. Agreeable Gray is slightly darker compared to Edgecomb Gray (the closer to 100, the lighter the color).
Despite having only slightly different color depth, Edgecomb Gray tends to feel brighter in a space. That’s because the undertones are a bit cleaner.
These are both super popular whole house paint colors because, while lighting effects them, they both look great in rooms regardless of the lighting situation.
What is different about Edgecomb gray vs Agreeable gray?
The main difference between these two colors, other than Agreeable Gray being slightly darker, is the undertones.

Undertones
Edgecomb Gray is a beige paint color with warm gray undertones. But, it leads with that golden beige color.
On the other hand, Agreeable Gray leads with gray, with beige or even taupe undertones. Agreeable Gray can read a bit pink even in certain lighting.
How do I decide between these two colors?
These are both great neutral paint colors. However, Edgecomb Gray is going to lean a bit closer to beige while Agreeable Gray feels a bit more like a warm gray.
If your room has low light or northern exposure, stick to Edgecomb Gray. The cool light will tone down the yellow undertones to make it feel more neutral.
Southern facing rooms with bright, golden light might prefer Agreeable Gray, as that southern light will make edgecomb gray really pull a bit yellow. Plus, super bright light could wash Edgecomb gray out more, making it look closer to cream or off white.
