Looking for the perfect warm neutral paint color for your home? Let's compare Winds Breath vs Swiss Coffee to see if one might be perfect for your space!
Warm neutrals are so popular right now, and it’s easy to see why. They’re cozy and inviting but still timeless and versatile.
A warm neutral can make a room feel welcoming without the harshness of bright white or the coolness of gray—it’s that perfect balance.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about two favorites: Wind’s Breath and Swiss Coffee.
So, let’s chat about what makes them different and help you figure out which one might work best for your space!

Wind's Breath vs Swiss Coffee
Wind's Breath and Swiss Coffee are both warm neutral paint colors, but they have some key differences.
What is similar about Wind's Breath vs Swiss Coffee?
Wind’s Breath and Swiss Coffee are both warm, neutral paint colors that can work beautifully as a whole house paint color.
Both have warm undertones, but each also comes with a “sneaky” undertone that can pop up depending on the lighting:
- Wind’s Breath: Taupe, pink, or purple undertones.
- Swiss Coffee: A slight green undertone.
What is different about Wind's Breath vs Swiss Coffee?
Wind's Breath is noticeably darker than Swiss Coffee.
Wind's Breath is more of a chameleon color, changing between taupe, gray and cream, depending on a space's lighting.
Like most paint colors, Swiss Coffee's appearance can also change depending on a space's lighting but not as dramatically.

Light Reflectance Value
LRV measures how much light a color reflects, on a scale from 0 (black) to 100 (white):
- Swiss Coffee (LRV 82): Brighter and closer to off-white.
- Wind’s Breath (LRV 70): Slightly darker, with more depth.
Undertones
Wind's Breath and Swiss Coffee both feature warm undertones.
Wind's Breath also has a sneaky taupe / pink / purple undertone that can make an appearance in certain situations.
Swiss Coffee has a slight green undertone that can show up in cool lighting or rooms with LED light bulbs.
In south-facing rooms with lots of natural light, both colors lean warmer and brighter. But Wind’s Breath often looks more creamy or taupe.
In north-facing rooms, Wind's Breath may appear more gray, possibly even a bit dingy.
It's very important to swatch colors on your wall to make sure they look good – day and night – in your actual space before committing.

How do I decide between these two colors?
- True Off-White: If you want something closer to white, Swiss Coffee is the better choice. Wind’s Breath is more of a mid-tone neutral.
- Lighting: If you prefer a color that stays more consistent throughout the day, go with Swiss Coffee. Wind’s Breath shifts more noticeably in different lighting.
- North-Facing Rooms: If your space gets north-facing light, keep in mind:
- Swiss Coffee: Might show a hint of green.
- Wind’s Breath: Could look dingy or overly gray.
This is one of those cases where swatching both colors in your home is key. Look at them in different lighting, both during the day and at night, to see which one feels right for your space.
I hope this helps you find the perfect warm neutral for your home!
